Scream 7, the sequel to Scream (also known as Scream 5) is all set to release in the year 2026. Directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, “Scream” was first released to theaters in 2022 and introduces a fresh perspective to the much-loved slasher franchise of the first four films directed by Wes Craven during the 90s. It is the first part of the Scream franchise not to be helmed by the legendary Wes Craven. However it sincerely tries to grasp some part of Craven’s legacy while making certain alterations worthy of both newcomers and seasoned followers of the franchise.
Scream 7 Release Date:
After tackling production hurdles and making creative adjustments, alongside cast changes in the long standing horror series Ghostface is poised to return for another spree of bloodshed in the upcoming installment titled “Scream 7.” The film is scheduled for release on February 27th of 2026 as announced on media by Neve Campbell who rejoined the franchise following a hiatus from the installment due to a disagreement over compensation, with Kevin Williamson. The franchises writer and director of its sequel.
The film has the date to itself – there are no other blockbuster dates on competition against the “Scream” sequel. As it stands, filming is still yet to begin.
Scream 7 Cast:
Fans were starting to wonder if Scream 7 would get made after Melissa Barrera got fired from the film under controversial circumstances.
Although Neve Campbell has already signed on to reprise her role as Sidney, and the picture — which was initially going to be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett — will now be directed by Scream scribe Kevin Williamson, and is expected to make a comeback with Patrick Dempsey and Courten-boy Cox returning as Mark Kincaid and Gale Weathers respectively.
Initially lined up to replace Scream VI directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett was “Happy Death Day” and “Freaky” director Christopher Landon. He later lost his job on the film that Melissa was fired from.
The core four of Scream 5 and Scream 6 will not return in Scream 7 because Melissa Barrera was fired. Melissa Barrera (Sam), Jenna Ortega (Tara), Mason Gooding (Chad) and Jasmin Savoy Brown (Mindy) will not be back for Scream 7.
The only cast member currently attached is Neve Campbell. Neve previously set down Scream VI vs profits and as of March 2024 confirmed her return for Scream VII.
Neve has said: “I’m so excited to announce this news!!! Sidney Prescott is coming back!!!! It’s always been such a blast and an honor to get to play Sidney in the Scream movies.”

Scream 5 (2022) Release Date:
Paramount revealed the film’s official title (Scream), release date (January 14, 2022), and a couple of new photos, including a title treatment, and on October 12, 2021, the studio finally released the first trailer for the film, and additionally revealed a set of photos featuring a title treatment. On October 1st of the year came the debut of the movies trailer by the studio.
The movie begins with a scene starting twenty five years after the events of the first Woodsboro murders and sees a reptition of several key characters wich includes Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox) and Dewey Riley (David Arquette). The Saga includes a Ghost Face killer targeting a group of teenagers, ensuing several intrigue and brutal murder scenes, and kicks off with murder, whose focal point is new comers Sam Carpenter (Melissa Barrera) and her sister Tara (Jenna Ortega), whereas the legacy cast joins the rescue for the identity of the murderer.
The main characters see more development than arguably any of the other scream sequels and the new meta textualization of modern horror (specifically reboots) is not only genius, but at certain points downright hilarious.
This film has a special quality about it as it manages to harmonize old school and new age. It provides you with a thrilling and comedic experience that is well balanced and does it’s original subject matter justice. It’s not flawless. In terms of being an gruesome slasher film it definitely hits the spot.

Scream 6 (2022) Release Date:
The global premiere of Scream VI took place at the AMC Lincoln Square Theater on March 6th of 2023. It was released to viewers, in the United States on March 10th by Paramount Pictures.
Scream 6 (2023) Plot:
The narrative gets thrilling when the four individuals who survived the Ghostface killings swap the known roads of Woodsboro with the vibes of New York City.The initial sequence establishes an quirky atmosphere that harkens back, to the franchises allure. The inclusion of diverse characters adds a layer of complexity, reinforcing the idea that anyone could be behind the Ghostface mask, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats.
One of the standout moments is the gripping Bodega scene, a departure from the franchise’s usual settings. The public attack, coupled with Ghostface wielding a shotgun, injects a fresh and intense energy into the film. This bold choice pays off, making Scream VI feel both refreshing and innovative.
