If you are a desi horror lover, and if you are eager to watch Tumbbad 2 just like its prequel (Tumbbad is hard to miss out on, especially after its successful re-release in theaters last week, although we insist you watch it if you haven’t already!), say no more. We are here with an announcement to make your day just better. The makers of the horrifying mystical tale of Tumbbad, initially released in 2018, are all set to release its sequel with Tumbbad 2!
The success of the original movie has stirred up some chilling emotions of horror and visual awe amongst fans. With a hooking storyline as a continuation, focusing on Pandurang, and uncovering yet another era of greed and destruction, the sequel sure sounds as promising as its predecessor.
Tumbbad 2 Release date
We dont know yet as to when Tumbbad 2 will be released but we know for sure that the makers will win the audience with another piece to the tale. No information of the plot is available yet. However, according to Hindustan Times, the sequel will be a continuation to the original film shedding light on Pandurang’s life, the son of Vinayakand while giving a deeper insight on the concept of immortality. The film is currently in the pre-production stage, with the script in the making.
Tumbbad 2 Cast
Sohum Shah, who is the producer of the movie, also plays the lead role of Vinayak Rao, with Jyoti Malshe as his mother, Mohammed Samad as Pandurang, and Harsh K as Hastar. The cast also includes key characters played by Anita Date, Deepak Damle, Cameron Anderson, Anika and Arohi Radhakrishnan, the twins, and Rudra Soni as Sadashiv.
Tumbbad Plot
Vinayak, a 10-12 year kid, is a resident of a small-town village called Tumbbad. It is the pre-independence era of the 1920s. Everyone in Tumbbad knows about the existence of a mysterious Wada (traditional mansion-cum-house), where exists infinite gold coins. But people who have dared to go inside – just like the current Bermuda Triangle – have never come out. And those who have, turned into a formidable creature.
With the curse of constant pain, constant hunger, and no death, Vinayak’s grandmother happens to be one of the cursed. She is never completely shown.
Only a glimpse of her feet is shown which is eerily disturbing. She is locked in a room, chained with shackles. Every curse is also a boon alternatively.
And Vinayak, even though a kid, has it.

What the producer of Tumbbad 2 has to say?
In an attempt to make a statement on the film’s unique concept and storyline, the actor cum producer Sohum Shah mentioned in a recent interview, “I don’t think that is a problem. Those films are different (Stree and Munjya). None of them are like Tumbbad. There’s a lot of difference in these stories. They are not making dadi-nani ki kahaniyaan (tales shared by our grandmothers). Our story is not based in modern times. Our film begins and ends in the period time. We have a rakshas, a demon.
